Hair Ties

This short piece is an improvisation from September 2023, that I later transcribed.

One day that month, I went on a date with my girlfriend and we had a great day. I dropped her off home and went on my way too, but I wasn’t feeling great on the drive home. I felt sad that we weren’t together anymore, and I thought about all the great memories we made that day. I was feeling sentimental and extremely heavy hearted, I drove slowly on the way home. When I made it, I grabbed my things from the car but noticed that she left something. A single hair tie.  As I picked it up, I began to reminisce on our time together, our laughs, our hugs, everything, and being so far from her made everything harder. I went into my house, sat at my piano, turned on my voice recorder on my phone and just started playing. This is the piece I improvised that day.
